About the event

As children grow up they are exposed to a wide variety of common illnesses for which fever is often a unifying symptom. Although in most cases children will recover well on their own, sometimes these illnesses can become more serious. Research is underway at Imperial to understand disease mechanisms of common childhood illness, how to identify those that are more serious, and how to treat them.

In this seminar, two experts will talk about their research on understanding and diagnosing common childhood and answer your questions:

Professor Jethro Herberg is a Professor of Paediatric Infectious Disease at Imperial College London and Honorary Consultant at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the Royal Brompton. Professor Herberg will talk about his research on new approaches to the diagnosis of fever.

Dr Vanessa Sancho Shimizu is a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow and Associate Professor in Human Genetics of Infectious Disease. Dr Sancho Shimizu will talk about her research into the genetics of common infections.
